Letter from the Editor

Dear Patron: Susan Wiggs is an author whose career I have been watching for years. Her characters called to me when I prepared the abridged audio script of her first hardcover, Home Before Dark, and I am thrilled that Brilliance is her audio publisher for her newest hardcover, Just Breathe. I was able to take a sneak peak at the manuscript shortly after we bought the rights and have been waiting for the chance to introduce fellow readers to Chicago cartoonist Sarah Moon. For a year and a half Sarah and her husband Jack solely focused on Jack’s health. Now that he is cancer-free, the two have to figure out how to be a normal couple again. Part of that is resurrecting old dreams, including one of having a child, even if it means repeated artificial insemination attempts. But Jack’s infidelity quashes plans for their new start, and Sarah finds refuge in her northern California hometown. As she adjusts to small-town life and the end of her marriage, she forms an unlikely connection with Will Bonner, the golden boy of her high school class. Life presents her with a new complication when she finds out that she is pregnant with Jack’s twins. Just Breathe is the story of a woman who accepts the support of family and friends, but also learns to be on her own for the first time in her life. It is the story of a man who has chosen to give up his dreams for the sake of a child. It is a story familiar to each of us— about handling unexpected change, the messy yet glorious imperfections in life, and the unpredictability of love.
